Things have changed as they have a tendency to do. In February of 2008, we were told the wait for Program I was now up to about 14-18 months and growing. With much debating, Jennifer and I decided to switch to program III. Program III is a little different in that the child is in foster care and not in an orphanage, yes that means more money. However, the wait was 4-6 months for a little boy or 8-12 for a little girl. Jennifer and I are open to either sex, so more likely then not it will be a little boy.
July 16th, Jennifer receives a call from JoH stating they have a referral of a little boy, Ku, Chang-Hsu born April 13th in Pingtung County, Taiwan! He was 20.08 inches long and 6lbs 15oz and is very healthy. We accepted the referral and now have to fill out more paperwork to be sent to Taiwan for the adoption. Now we are again in the same boat as before, waiting, only this time we have a face we are waiting on. This new wait is between 3-5 months depending on the Taiwan Judge, maybe we will get a fast one! However, now we can start to ready the nursery and put together some supplies for when he arrives.
Our paperwork has been sent to Taiwan and we are now awaiting their processes. There are two hearings; one has already happened a little early so that is very promising. Once the second happens we will be contacted with a date we need to travel. Cameron's nursery is moving along, we have even got some paint samples on the wall and are getting ready to tackle that project next.
Well, it has happened quicker than expected. Yesterday we got the news that our final ruling is complete. Our tentative date to get Cameron is November 10th. Now we really have to make sure we have everything ready. I guess you never feel ready when it comes to little ones! We are so excited that he will be home for both holidays.
What a whirlwind of a trip! 14 hour plane flight there and 11 back with a 7 month old. Taiwan is a very nice place to visit. It is very clean and people are very friendly. We got to see and do a lot but wish we had time for more, isn't that always the case. We met and received Cameron on November 10th in the afternoon. We traveled back home on November 13th and our now starting to get into a rhythm. Jennifer and I have the next three months to send time with our new one. Thanks for all your best wishes and prayers. We will update the photo album. Please e-mail for a password if you would like to see some pictures.
